GENERAL INFORMATION

Ice and Inline

The San Diego District Hockey League has an ice hockey division and a Inline hockey division. Kids are welcome to play on ice and Inline teams simultaneously, and we do our best to ensure that ice and Inline games and practices do not conflict with each other. Each division typically includes one practice and one game per week.

Team Selection

Players are placed on teams according to district. At the beginning of each ice and Inline season, we hold placements. These placement sessions are designed to give us a sense for how many skaters we will have from each district so that we can determine whether we will have pure school teams, teams from neighboring schools, or teams representing an entire district. New players may join at any time. For more information about how districts and teams are formed, see the [District] section of the website.

Required Gear

Every player will need the following equipment:

  • Helmet
  • Shoulder pads (optional for Inline)
  • Elbow pads
  • Shin guards
  • Skates
  • Gloves
  • Stick
  • Protective cup
  • Mouth guard
  • Hockey Pants

Limited rental equipment is available for a $65 fee for the season and a $150 deposit. This will include the first 7 items on the list above. A $150 refundable deposit is required at the time of receiving equipment. For families experiencing financial need, we have some limited ability to acquire used gear at lower prices. Contact us for more information.
